Minister of Tobago Development, Dr. Delmon Baker has given today’s budget presentation a grade of C-minus, after stating his dissatisfaction at the angle in which it was presented.
Secretary of the Division of Finance and Enterprise Development Joel Jack today presented the Tobago House of Assembly’s budget for fiscal year 2013/2014 with an overall request of 4.9billion dollars for Tobago from the Central Government with its theme, “Responding to the People’s Mandate”…Protecting Tobago’s Heritage.
After Finance Minister, Larry Howai presented the 2012/2013 fiscal package, the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Orville London and the Secretary for Finance Dr. Anselm London within recent times complained that the allocation for Tobago is below the stipulated 4.03percent.
“The budget is wrong!” These were the words coming from the mouth of Finance Secretary as he spoke about the 2013 national budget. He said that the Minister of Finance, Larry Howai’s budget statement was different to the draft estimates documented.
Following the national 2013 budget reading, Chief Secretary of the THA, Orville London explained that the treatment in this budget is identical to how they’ve been treated in the past.
In a few days, Finance Minister Larry Howai is expected to make the national budget presentation in the House of Representatives. This, the third budget since the People’s Partnership Government was elected into office.
