As the country debates the issue that shot into the spotlight by Chief justice Ivor Archie to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of marijuana, many locals are welcoming the suggestion.

Disbelief, heartbroken and confused was just some of the immediate emotions that infiltrated the Track and Field arena as news of T&T’s sprint queen Kelly Ann Baptiste alleged, failed drug test broke this morning.

Two men appeared before Senior Magistrate Nannette Forde on June 20th, on charges arising out of the June 11th drug bust. The men, Dion Stewart and Hayden George of Patience Hill and Cinnamon Hill respectively were charged for allegedly having in their possession two hundred kilograms of compressed marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Tobago Police made one of their largest drug busts in recent times. This latest drug haul is estimated to have a street value of almost twelve million dollars.

Channel 5 News has confirmed that headway has been made in what is believed to be the biggest drug bust in the island’s history. A source close to our newsroom, verified that the two men who fled the scene last Tuesday after being stopped in a roadblock, have been identified and warrants have since been issued for the duo.
