Today marks the 50th anniversary of Hurricane Flora, one of the deadliest hurricanes recorded in the Atlantic history. This hurricane virtually destroyed Tobago in 1963.

Active Hurricane season expected

A number of weather forecasters are predicting an active 2013 hurricane season. The team of forecasters is predicting an above average 2013 Atlantic hurricane season, with 18 named tropical storms, 9 of which will become hurricanes.

TEMA’s Director Allan Stewart has reassured that we are in the rainy/hurricane period. According to Stewart, Trinidad and Tobago is currently in the rainy season, more so into the active hurricane period.
